I love fashion. But I also love everything to do with style and what I find to be stylish. I especially love home decor and projects to revamp a living space. I did just that with my dining room. I had a boring empty wall and really wanted to create a more cozy feel to my dining room so I salvaged an old faux fireplace and turned it in to a cozy little display just in time for the holidays.
Before and After...
I used a simple satin white paint to coat the mantel and framing. Then I used chalkboard paint to coat the slate faux tile in the center. Chalkboard paint is great for a painting project if you have children and also covers most flaws in materials other than wood. Not to mention how deep and rich black chalkboard paint looks rather than just using a simple matte black paint. Chalkboard paint is also very durable, and with two small children in my home, it seemed like the perfect choice for me. Then I just added some holiday appropriate decor to the mantel and bottom of the fireplace. Most of the decor can be found at Pier One Imports, a favorite home decor stop of mine. I hope this inspires you to "re-do" something in your own home. Happy Holidays, cheers!
Much Love,
Ash
